So it goes.
Kurt Vonnegut dead at 84

“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’ ”

Yeah, I'm bummed. I started re-reading Man Without A Country today, and I'm very sad knowing that it is indeed his "last" not his "most recent" (as he would say) book.

Yah, It's a sad day. Archie and Mehitabel, ee cummings, Trout Fishing in America, The Electric Koolaid Acid Test, Sometimes A Great Notion, Take This Waltz- they are all near passing or passed. Here's a pint for each and every, god save my liver. :-(

Let me be remembered, quoted or even cared about one billionth of a percent of any of them.

having read almost everything Vonnegut wrote years ago, I hadn't read anything by him in ten years. I went out and bought a bunch of books including "Man Without a Country" I and read it in one sitting - it's very short - and I'm halfway through "God Bless You Mr. Rosewater" --I'd forgotten just how good he was a the basic mechanics of prose.

Great to see you stopping by zoomer
