cough, cough, oink, cough

My seven-year-old daughter has brought the new swine flu home from school. I expect we will all be oinking and rolling in mud by the weekend. Ah, the joys of parenthood.

Update: The daughter seems to have weathered the storm, but my son came down with a fever on Saturday afternoon and went from healthy to obviously sick in the space of about an hour.

final update: All cured now. Thanks for all the good wishes.

Oh no!! I hope she's not feeling too rough, rev.

There's always a chance you & your wife won't get it... how are you feeling, anyway? I don't like the looks of that "OINK" in the heading.

OMG that picture is hilarious. Now I am wondering if your serious or joking about the flu. Hope the little one is not too sick.

we haven't sprouted curly tails yet or anything, but it is still early in the game.

And here I was feeling good about my little girl starting jr. kindergarten. I'm going to make her watch Pinocchio and tell her that if she doesn't wash her hands, she is going to turn into a pig the way Lampwick turned into a donkey.

Is that cruel?

I can't even tease my seven year old with the curly tail and snout routine - she's so feverish right now, she'd believe it. Its is very scary when the child's fever get up past 39 degree C

That is scary. Sorry. I wasn't trying to make light of her condition, but it reads as if I did. I am often too glib. My apologies.

no need to apologize - the little monster bounced me out of bed this a.m. demanding breakfast, but she was mighty warm the other night. I know you weren't making light of her ailment, never fear. Hope yours are hale and hearty and healthy.

Rev.

Reading the latest, comment sounds like she is well again? Did it get passed around the household?
Kim and I were curious.

Otter, she's improved since yesterday. Still feverish and no appetite and gets aches and pains and she went to bed pretty early - in other words, typical flu minus the barfing. None of the rest of us seem to have caught it yet. "Yet" being the operative term. If past colds and flus are anything to go by, the boy will have it by Sunday. The Mrs. will have it by Monday and I'll be sick as a dog by about Wednesday -- but I guess time will tell.

otter, she's better than she was, but she still has a fever and faded into bed pretty early tonight. It hasn't been passed on to any of the rest of us yet, but tomorrow is another day. Hope yours are all well.

Rev.

Been lucky here in Guelph. I don't want to speak too soon though. It's early in the "infectious disease" season.
