A message from Stephen Harper's biggest fan
While it is hard to believe something this long could be written in crayon, it is even harder to believe that brain-dead, half-assed, prarie National Review wannabe paragon of conservative intellectual thought - the Western Standard -- would publish this magnum dopus by Adam Yoshida (seen at the left, just one step away from becoming one of these guys) in the midst of an election in which they want to make their guy look less scary to centerist voters.
"Do too much, rather than too little. Don’t shift these things around. Burn them down and salt the Earth. A future Liberal government won’t have the guts, the time, the wherewithal, or the money to recreate them all at once. Sell the land and the buildings. Shred the records. Disperse the staff. It’s easier to destroy than it is to create. A Tory government on a rampage could destroy in a couple of months what it took four decades to create – and what it would take another forty to recreate."
Reassuring isn't it? He burbles on about the need to triple the size of the Canadian Forces, get rid of the CBC, build a couple of aircraft carriers and crank up the Canadian military-industrial complex (no really, he calls it that)
PSA does a proper eviceration. One might think that this would be the craziest thing Adam has ever written and it just somehow slipped through the editing process at the Western Standard. Sadly, no.

Is it wrong to call Adam a stupid fat fuck? How about corpulent fuckwit? Or fucktard?
I know, never make fun of the developmentally delayed. Sorry, too much coffee and competing deadlines will do that to a person.
Just to be clear: That was a blog post by Adam Yoshida, not something published by the Western Standard.
Bloggers on The Shotgun can publish whatever they want, and the variety of bloggers means a variety of opinion.
For example, I disagree vehemently with Yoshida.
P.M. Jaworski,
Editor, The Western Standard,

Also, I am not a supporter of the Conservative Party, and neither is the Western Standard. If you take a closer look at our commentary on this election, you will see that we:
Endorsed Andre Arthur (Independent) in Quebec City. Were going to endorse Kirk Tousaw and Dana Larsen (NDP) in British Columbia, before their ouster. Actually publish (rather than merely permit to blog) Marc "Prince of Pot" Emery's columns, exclusively for the WS.
We also cover the Libertarian and Freedom parties more than any other outlet. We have not (yet) endorsed or supported any Conservative Party candidates (Scott Reid is someone we would endorse).
Ohhh, that changes everything. As opposed to being a complete fucktard, Adam is simply fractally wrong.
Thanks for the clarification.
Mr. Jaworski are you seriously arguing that as an online publication the Western Standard bears absolutely no responsibility for the work that appears under its masthead? That you'll let any random dingbat that wanders in off the street to blog on The Shotgun? Really? That you exercise zero editorial control?
As far as you disagreeing with Adam Yoshida, well that isn't too surprising, most people with sense enough to come in out of the rain disagree with Mr. Yoshida. That being the case, why do you give him a platform and, I presume, some form of renumeration for airing his ill-conceived and often offensive views? If, as you say, its just a blog post, not something published by the Western Standard, why not let Mr. Yoshida sign up at Blogger or Wordpress and get his own blog.
You can claim to disagree with your bloggers all you like, but giving them a platform does constitute a certain level of endorsement. If you don't think their opinions are somehow worthwhile, then why to you seek to propagate them?
